Dr. Çatalyürek is a Professor in the School of Computational Science and Engineering in the College of Computing at the Georgia Institute of Technology. He is a recipient of NSF CAREER award and the primary investigator of several awards from Department of Energy, National Institute of Health and National Science Foundation. He serves as an Associate Editor for Parallel Computing, and as an editorial board member for IEEE Transactions on Parallel and Distributed Computing, Journal of Parallel and Distributed Computing, and Network Modeling and Analysis in Health Informatics and Bioinformatics. He was the founding General Chair of 1st ACM International Health Informatics Symposium 2010, Program Chair of 5th ACM Conference on Bioinformatics, Computational Biology and Health Informatics 2014, and Workshops Chair of IPDPS 2010-2015. He is a Fellow of IEEE, member of ACM and SIAM, and the Chair for the IEEE TCPP for 2016-2017, and Vice-Chair for ACM SIGBio for the 2015-2018 term. Dr. Çatalyürek’s main research areas are in high-performance computing, combinatorial scientific computing and biomedical informatics.
